How to create and manage a CLMS account

What is a CLMS account? What do I use it for?

CLMS stands for Core Lab Management System, and is a reservation and payment system for the shared core facilities at UCLA, including EICN. If you would like to use the equipment listed here, you must sign up with CLMS and reserve your time through that system.

Where can I get a CLMS account?

From the CLMS Main Page, you can request an account here.

What is an FAU? What is a Recharge ID?

An FAU and Recharge IDs are simply external and internal payment systems.

  • If you are a part of UCLA, you will have a Recharge ID (please ask your PI if you do not have one.)
  • If you are not UCLA student or faculty, you will need to contact your purchasing/finance office for the necessary FAU information.

*note that the payment system is not yet operation as of 6/11/08, and payment will be made the traditional way - by talking to people and filling out forms, on paper.

Is CLMS case-sensitive?

Yes. If you are having trouble logging in, check to make sure your caps lock is not toggled.

I have an account, but I am not approved to reserve time on the machines.

Approvals are done in two parts. You must be approved by both the EICN facility administrators and the CNSI Finance Office.

Note that you will not be able to reserve equipment without proper training. To receive training, please contact EICN personnel.

How do I reserve equipment?

From the CLMS main page, click on EICN. Scroll down to where you see Equipment/Service and named photographs of all our equipment, and click on the equipment you want to reserve time with. At the bottom, you may see one of a few different messages:

  • To make a reservation on this Equipment:
Your account is pending for approval.
  • To make a reservation on this Equipment:
Click here to ask for equipment training authorization.

  • A box asking for start date, end date, and rate type.

What does it mean?

Your account is pending for approval. You have not yet been fully approved. You must be approved by both EICN administrators and the CNSI Finance Office.

Click here to ask for equipment training authorization. You are not yet trained to use the equipment. Click to make a request. All equipment requires training before you are authorized to use it unsupervised.

If you see the box asking for start date, end date, and rate type, then you may begin making reservations. Simply select the correct date and times, and the rate that corresponds with your relationship to CNSI and UCLA.
